Marketing For Equine Businesses On A Budget
- Writing blogs – This is a great way to share your knowledge and rank higher on Google by answering common questions and addressing myths and misconceptions. This also boosts your credibility.
- Email marketing – You can keep in touch with your audience and show them your knowledge, experience and expertise by sending them marketing content that talks about their problems, how they feel and the solution they want and how your services can help them make that transformation.
- Video content – Sharing video content is a great way to connect with your audience. It could be short videos on Instagram, Youtube Shorts or TikTok or you might share longer-form videos like webinars hosted on your own website or longer-format videos on Youtube
- Podcasts – Like videos, podcasts can be a great way of sharing your knowledge and expertise. You can record podcasts about topics relevant to your ideal client and the problems they have, mistakes they’re making and the outcome they want, and of course the benefits of yourservices. You could either be a guest on someone else’s podcast or start your own.
Leverage SEO: Did you know I have a podcast episode called “How to Rank Higher on Google” with Rhiannon from Purple Horse Marketing? (Yes, two Rhiannon's both marketing experts, hanging out on a podcast!) Rhiannon is an SEO expert and teaches equine business owners how to rank higher on Google.
Her biggest tips are:
Create content that contains keywords
Actually think about your keywords! If you’re an equine physiotherapist then keywords like “equine physio” are good, but it's not the be-all and end-all!
Think about what your ideal client is actually typing into Google.
Chances are, they’re not just searching “equine physio near me” They’re typing things like “Why is my horse bending to the outside in canter?” or “Why is my horse struggling to carry himself in a correct frame” or “Why can’t I get my horse in an outline” Not all of your clients will be aware that they need an equine physio (or whatever service you provide)
So it’s your job to help them become problem-aware!
Research your market and target audience - To create content that appeals to your audience, you need to research your target audience!
Plan ahead – it takes 3-6 months for search engines to start recognising your content. Rhiannon says it takes a lot of work in the fist instance but once you get the ball moving you have a “snowball” effect once the momentum gets going, search engine algorithms will start prioritising your website.
